Personnel responsible for any hazardous waste activities, including environmental coordinators, managers, engineers, and hazardous waste handlers, emergency coordinators and alternates. Annual training is required under 40 CFR §262.
Many OSHA regulations explicitly require employers to train their employees in the safety and health aspects of their jobs. Employees must be provided with complete information regarding the processes and equipment they work with, the materials they use and the protective actions essential for their welfare.
Personnel responsible for the safe shipment of hazardous materials, including anyone that selects a hazardous materials packaging, fills packages, secures a closure on a hazardous materials package, marks or labels containers, completes or signs shipping papers, provides emergency response information, provides placards, loads or unloads vehicles or operates vehicles used to transport hazardous materials.
Personnel who are required to prepare, offer (ship) and accept shipments of dangerous goods for transportation by air via International Air Transport Association (IATA) Member and Associate Member airlines.
Shore-based personnel engaged in the transport of dangerous goods intended to be transported by sea shall be trained in the contents of dangerous goods provisions under the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Regulations commensurate with their responsibilities.
